Get ready for today’s chocolatey, creamy, nutritious, vegan, dairy free and nut free plant based mylk recipe that uses just 4 simple plant based ingredients— Hello Chocolate Hemp Mylk!

It’s easy to head to the store and pick up your favourite plant based mylks, but making them at home is so much more fun, and so easy! You can get as creative or as simple as you desire when it comes to making homemade mylks with different flavour combos and the use of different nuts or seeds.

I kept things simple with today’s recipe and used only 4 ingredients you likely have kicking around. Although simple, this Chocolate Hemp Mylk still packs a ton of chocolatey goodness and delivers an impressive amount of nutrients your body will love with every sip.

Today’s recipe is super quick and easy to whip up. Hemp seeds are easy to sprinkle on top of smoothies, yogurt, oatmeal, a bowl of fruit, and salads, but have you ever blended them into a simple dairy free plant based mylk? Essentially, all you need for a basic hemp mylk recipe is some water and hemp seeds— the rest is up to you! Hemp seeds pack quite an impressive nutritional profile containing a good source of protein, essential fatty acids, dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals (source). In addition, hemp seeds are a great nut free alternative to use. Hemp mylk packs a bit of a earthy and nutty flavour for those of you who are used to drinking other plant based milks, such as almond milk, coconut milk, or soy milk. That said, the chocolatey goodness from the raw cacao in this recipe does the perfect job at complimenting the flavour hemp mylk dilvers— I love this combo so much!

Raw cacao also has an impressive nutritional profile as it contains more phenolic antioxidants than most foods (source). In addition, cacao is particularly rich in flavonoids—specifically flavanols (a class of flavonoids). Flavonoids contain antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic, and anti-carcinogenic properties (source).

Most nut based mylks require soaking ahead of time, but not hemp mylk! This type of recipe requires no advanced preparation. All you need is a high-speed blender, water, quality hemp seeds, raw cacao, some natural sweetness and you’re set!

Feel free alter this recipe to your desired taste preference— it’s quite versatile and easy to switch up. Like I mentioned about, all you essentially need is some water and hemp seeds and the rest is up to you. I encourage you to get creative when making your own homemade mylks by adding different flavour and nutrition touches as you see fit. I also encourage you to try out this particular recipe if you love ordinary chocolate milk! Today’s recipe is a much healthier and more beneficial alternative when compared to traditional chocolate milk.
