Hello 2019! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year! It’s been a hot minute since I last posted to the blog— December was loaded with festivities, and it flew by so quickly!
I took a step away from my typical routine last month, which felt really great, but I am definitely happy to be back into it after the holiday’s. I enjoy taking a break from my usual from time to time, but I love getting back into things even more! I always come back to my routine with new inspiration, perspective, and motivation. I slipped back into a more structured fitness regimen and dialled in on my nutrition the day after Boxing Day. It definitely feels good to have some structure again. I don’t wait for a new year to begin something, I am constantly challenging my self and changing throughout the year. Eating well and exercise is a lifestyle for me— I’m not an all-or-nothing kind of person. Throughout the month of December I still made sure to incorporate healthy meals and movement into my days, I just took a step back and was more relaxed about it as my hubby and I spent almost the entire month having a ton of fun with our families together.
I definitely took advantage of my relax time and ate all kinds of food over the holiday’s, however, physical movement and eating nutrient-dense foods/incorporating more plant based meals into my diet always leaves me feeling my best. That said, this brings me to today’s recipe, the Elevated Smoothie Bowl! The base of this smoothie bowl contains just 5 simple and nutritious plant powered ingredients— cashew mylk, avocado, dark leafy greens, mixed berries, and Botanica Health Elevated Perfect Protein.

ELEVATED SMOOTHIE BOWL

Made with simple whole food ingredients and packed with protein, fiber, and healthy energizing fats to keep you fueled for hours!
Serves: 1 | Time: 5 minutes | Difficulty: Easy
Base Ingredients (low-sugar):
- 1 cup unsweetened cashew mylk, or any plant based mylk of choice
- 1/2 avocado
- Handful of mixed dark leafy greens
- 1 cup frozen berries
- 1 scoop Botanica Perfect Protein Elevated Brain Booster powder, vanilla
- 1/2 banana, sliced
- 2 tbsp hemp hearts
- Coconut chips
Notes- If you are focusing on a low-sugar diet, skip the banana and coconut chips (unless they are unsweetened) listed in the optional toppings. If your smoothie bowl consistency is too runny add more frozen berries, or if it’s too thick add more mylk.
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender (I used the Vitamix) and blend until smooth and creamy, or until desired consistency is achieved.
- Transfer smoothie blend to a bowl with a spatula. Add toppings and enjoy!
