I’m feeling a festive Friday vibe today! If you know me well enough, you know my love for concocting nutritious smoothie blends. It’s such an easy way to pack a ton of nutrition into your day.
Today’s recipe is loaded with plant based creaminess and a few of my favourite festive ingredients— like cinnamon, nutmeg, and pecans (did I basically just sum up fall in 3 ingredients?). What makes today’s vanilla pecan smoothie so creamy? Avocado! It’s low in sugar, high in fiber, delivers a higher amount of potassium than banana, and contains heart healthy fats, a rich source of folate, vitamin C and vitamin E, and has a mild flavour which makes it versatile and easy to throw into a smoothie without being drastic.

My brother’s and I grew up enjoying homemade delicious pies made from scratch, and homemade pecan pie in particular is a Thanksgiving and Christmas food tradition in our family. Although pecans add a delicious savoury taste to pie, they do serve more than just that purpose. Pecans contain a good source of antioxidants and protect our heart health.
CREAMY VANILLA PECAN SMOOTHIE
A creamy, dairy free, and vegan friendly smoothie loaded with an excellent source of filling fiber, plant protein, and healthy fats to leave you feeling balanced, nourished, and festive!
Serves: 1 | Time: 5 minutes | Difficulty: Easy
- 1 + 1/2 cups unsweet almond milk
- 1 tbsp raw unsalted pecans
- 1/3 cup gluten free rolled oats
- 1 scoop vanilla plant based protein powder
- 1/2 an avocado
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 2 tsp organic unsweetened shredded coconut, optional
- Add all ingredients to a blender (except the shredded coconut) and blend until creamy and smooth.
- Pour into your favourite glass then sprinkle (optional) with a few extra pecan bits, a pinch of extra cinnamon powder, unsweetened organic shredded coconut, and enjoy!
Smoothie Tip: Always have your liquids at the base of the blender, this helps make sure all ingredients blend well and also prevents your ingredients from sticking to the bottom and sides of the blender.
